Melakans
love sports and games, both as spectators
and participants. The State has facilities
for a variety of sports and has hosted
many national and international events.
However, some of these facilities have
become inadequate to meet the more sophisticated
requirements of hosting major events today.
Besides
being a healthy past time, sports cut
across all racial and ethnic considerations
and helps in the moral and character development
of individuals. As such, the State Government
is in the process of adding on to and
improving the existing facilities. An
international standard sports complex
for the State is in the pipeline and when
completed will meet the needs of the sports
loving citizenry of Melaka and enable
the State to bid to host major national
and international events.
